Department of Aging to Induct 2008 Ohio Senior Citizens Hall of Fame
Twelve Older Ohioans Honored for Service and Achievements

COLUMBUS - Barbara E. Riley, director of the Ohio Department of Aging, and members of the Ohio General Assembly will honor the achievements of 12 exceptional seniors being inducted into the Ohio Senior Citizens Hall of Fame during a ceremony at the Capitol Theatre in Columbus from 2 to 4:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 22.

"Through their dedication, wisdom and compassion, the 2008 Ohio Senior Citizens Hall of Fame members leave their mark on Ohio," said Riley. "This year's class of honorees includes teachers, activists and volunteers who have worked to improve their communities and the lives of their neighbors. We salute their commitment to making a difference in the lives of others."

2008 Ohio Senior Citizens Hall of Fame Inductees:

• Jane Ann Burns, Wilkesville
• Jules Duga, Ph.D., Bexley
• Audrey Lavin, Ph.D., Canton
• Elwood "Mike" Michaels, West Chester
• Doyle Miller, Lakeview
• Joseph B. Quatman, originally from Lima
• Mary Regula, Canton
• Donna Smallwood, Parma
• Joy Tarbert, Bucyrus
• Mitch Toto, Belmont
• Eleanor Warner, Cleveland Heights
• Dolores "D" Wisenbarger, Butler

Since 1977, more than 300 individuals have been inducted into the Ohio Senior Citizens Hall of Fame. Native-born Ohioans or state residents for at least 10 years are nominated based on service to others and achievements after age 60 and for lifetime achievements that represent positive aging. Also being recognized are 15 individuals who will each receive an Elder Caregiving Award.
