Ohio Department of Aging Nominations

Recognition Programs

Each year, the Ohio Department of Aging honors three groups of Ohioans who help ensure that elders are respected as vital members of society who continue to grow, thrive and contribute.

  • The Ohio Senior Citizens Hall of Fame recognizes native-born Ohioans or long-time state residents for their service to others and for achievements after age 60 or lifetime achievements. Inductees not only illustrate positive aging, but also help make Ohio a better place to live.
  • The Elder Caregiver Award is presented to outstanding individuals of any age who combine ingenuity and devotion with available supports to make informed decisions and provide the best care possible for a loved one who is older or who has a disability.
  • Joined Hearts in Giving honors couples who have been married 40 years or longer and who share a commitment not only to each other, but also to their communities through volunteer service.

Nomination Forms

We now accept nominations year-round for all three honors presented by the Department of Aging. Nominations must be received by the date indicated below to be considered for the current year's honor. Any nomination received after that date will be considered for next year. These dates may change, with or without notice.
