Announcement: Follow us on Twitter April 8 for live updates from Direct Service Workforce Summit

On Friday, April 8, 2011, we will tweet live from the Stakeholder Summit for Ohio's Long-Term Direct Service Workforce Initiative. Follow @OhioDeptOfAging or search Twitter for the hashtag #dswsummit to see what is being said by experts like John McCarthy, Ohio's Medicaid Director, Bonnie Kantor-Burman, Director of the Department of Aging, and Sheryl Larson, from the National Direct Service Workforce Resource Center.

The Ohio Department of Aging is a proud partner in Ohio's Long-Term Direct Service Workforce Initiative, which coordinates the efforts of the state Departments of Aging, Job and Family Services, Education, Health, Mental Health, Developmental Disabilities and Alcohol and Drug Addiction Services. The collaboration is developing a unified strategy to improve the direct service workforce in Ohio. That workforce includes nurse aides, home health aides, direct support professionals and other direct service providers. Some examples of workforce needs that will be addressed by the project include recruitment, retention, worker literacy and overlapping skill sets for emerging models of care.
